Schenker of Canada to Showcase its Logistics Capabilities and Strengths at the Global Petroleum Show

It’s been nearly five decades since the Global Petroleum Show (GPS) made its debut in Calgary, Alberta. Since that initial introduction, this event has grown into an industry-leading event where more than 50,000 energy professionals from more than 90 different countries converge for a 3-day span every year. During that 72-hour period, those professionals strengthen business relationships, network, and do business with more than 1,000 exhibitors, according to GPS.

Providing direct access to the end-to-end supply chain, innovative technologies, products, and services, and an impressive lineup of energy-related educational seminars, this year’s event focuses on the theme Experience the Energy, with low carbon innovation, insight into Canada’s Indigenous perspectives, and global exploration opportunities and strategies as just a few of the key topics that will be up for discussion at the event.

“GPS was established as a platform for international collaboration and innovation and we believe these topics are of paramount importance to the future of energy,” said Bruce Carew, Vice President Energy for dmg::events, in a GPS press release. “We invite guests and participants to come to the show with open minds and contribute to the innovative future that lies ahead for energy development across the globe.”

The Biggest, Most Significant Oil & Gas Show

This year, Schenker of Canada, Ltd., a leading provider of global logistics services, will be showcasing its innovative services and talking to attendees about the value of working with a reliable, reputable logistics provider within the oil and gas sector. “GPS is the biggest and most significant oil and gas show in our region, and we really look forward to being a part of it in 2017,” says Siobhan Chinnery, VP of Global Projects/Oil & Gas for Schenker of Canada.

An active partner in Canada’s oil and gas marketplace, Schenker has made significant infrastructure investments over the last two years despite the economic conditions currently impacting the industry. “We’ve been focused on the market opportunities and on building out a solid team while many other providers are exiting the market,” says Chinnery. “We’ll be showcasing these and other strategies this month at GPS.”

In it for the Long Haul

Focused on long-term results versus short-term gains, Schenker sees true potential in serving as a trusted partner for the oil and gas industry. “We’re truly invested in this market,” says Chinnery. “We realize that over the long haul, oil and gas always rebounds. When it does, we won’t be behind the curve, trying to catch back up. We’ll be ready with a strong, skilled team and solid infrastructure in place.”

As part of that effort, Schenker of Canada has aligned its team to current markets (while also keeping them focused on the future opportunities), centralized its Canadian presence in Calgary, and closely aligned with the organization’s U.S. Oil and Gas Hub in Houston, Texas. “Our team is an offshoot of the Houston team, so anytime we need more support and expertise we have a direct connection to them.” The company also works closely with its Halifax operations and stands ready to assist customers that need East Coast support.

In Canada, Schenker has developed a group that possesses deep expertise in engineering, procurement, construction or “EPC,” as well as break-bulk and heavy-lift cargo. “We have associates who possess 35 years of experience in freight-forwarding, heavy-lift, break-bulk, and project cargo,” Chinnery explains. “Knowing that LNG (liquid natural gas) is going to play a key role in Canada’s future, we also have a lot of knowledge and experience in that area.”
