Key industry players will gather at this year’s Intermodal South America Conference to discuss new business opportunities, participate in sales and networking events, and form new partnerships.

A strategic business platform that attracts hundreds of key national and international and intermodal companies, the 25Th annual Intermodal South America Conference will take place at the Sao Paulo Expo in Brazil from March 19-21. At the 3-day event, key industry players will gather to discuss new business opportunities, participate in sales and networking events, and form new partnerships.

Streamlining the Global Supply Chain

The largest logistics event in Latin America, Intermodal South America has expanded its scope of operations, giving greater prominence to storage, distribution, and transportation chains.

At the event, intermodal reserves exclusive areas so that exhibiting companies can present the most modern—both in Brazil and worldwide—production, storage, distribution, and transportation supply chain products and services.

With 29,000 square meters of show floor space, Intermodal South America will feature more than 400 national and foreign transportation-related companies from more than 22 countries. The event’s 32,000 attendees also get three days of intensive business opportunities and face-to-face networking opportunities. “Every year at Intermodal, you will find a complete grid of lectures and forums full of information to [remove] any market doubts,” according to the event website.

Building a Brand

Known for showcasing numerous logistics solutions and services, transport services and products, trade services and products, and allied products and services, this international exhibition for logistics, transport, cargo, and international trade, the annual event has helped companies in the automotive, machinery & equipment, (among others) build their brands.

Intralogística, for example, features innovations, technologies, product launches, and services for managing and moving loads within warehouses, manufacturing units, and distribution centers. At Transport, the event showcases the main road, rail, waterway, and air providers along with those firms that specialize in general logistics services.

Full Steam Ahead for Intermodal

The growth in intermodal volumes continued in 2018 thanks to strong consumer spending and export activity on the one hand, and a tight truck market on the other, Joni Casey, president and CEO of the Intermodal Association of North America (IATA), writes in JOC. The industry posted a 7.2 percent gain in the first quarter of 2018—the best in nearly four years, followed by 6.2 percent growth for the second quarter.

“Leading economic indicators that are used to track intermodal business are up and are expected to exceed the previous full-year results at the end of 2018,” Casey notes, adding that the annual U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), which was originally forecast at 2.4 percent, is now expected to perform closer to 3 percent.

New Innovation and Partnerships

Thessa Tozzi, DB Schenker’s Sales and Marketing Director for Brazil, expects the intermodal industry’s position momentum to continue on a global basis well into 2019. As it prepares to attend Intermodal South America in March, she says DB Schenker will continue to build out and hone its well-established intermodal freight offering.

“This is an exciting time for the industry as a whole, with a lot of new innovations and methods helping to streamline the global supply chain and, specifically, the transportation component,” says Thessa, who is looking forward to meeting and networking with the hundreds of companies and thousands of attendees that will converge at Intermodal South America’s 25th anniversary event.

“This annual event blends perfectly with DB Schenker’s various intermodal initiatives,” Tozzi adds, “and commitment to intermodal innovation, technology, and partnerships.”
