Introducing Mark Oldershaw, Sprint Canoe, Burlington, Ontario.

It takes more than a strong will to be a National Champion and Olympian, and it takes more than a knowledge of Logistics to help world-class athletes get to the podium. Mark Oldershaw is a third generation sprint canoeist, winning Bronze at both the 2012 Olympic Games and 2013 World Championships.

As the Official Logistics Supplier of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, Schenker of Canada will provide Mark and his fellow athletes with 6,968 square metres (75,000 square feet) of warehouse space, warehouse operations (including staff and equipment), freight transportation and freight distribution operations, venue and athletes’ village logistics operations, as well as customs clearance and freight forwarding.

Mark’s athletic achievements include:

  • Bronze medal – 2012 Olympic Games
  • Bronze medal – 2013 World Championships
  • 8 x World Cup Gold Medalist
  • 73 x National Championship Gold Medalist

Mark is a third generation Olympian and 5th member of his family to compete at the Games. His grandfather Bert, uncles Dean and Reed, and father Scott all competed in the sport of Canoe/Kayak, but Mark is the first of the family to win a medal. He is currently training hard to get back on the podium at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While he loves wearing the maple leaf on his chest, Mark lists paddling and volunteer coaching at his local Burloak Canoe Club as one of his favourite things to do.

“We’ve put so much into preparing for these big races that it’s such a great feeling to know that DB Schenker is preparing just as hard to get our boats there on time in one piece,” Mark observes.” It’s such an important piece of the puzzle for us.”
