New Facilities in the United States, Brazil, Spain, and Austria.

Florence, Kentucky

DB Schenker USA has opened a new 541,000 square feet contract logistic facility in Florence, Kentucky specialized for high technology industries. A contract manufacturing company utilizes 130,000 square feet for manufacturing and 15,000 square feet for related office duties, and DB Schenker has 7,000 square feet for office, with the balance being utilized for warehousing. Outside of the facility there is parking for over 400 associates and 30 trailer spots.

The new location was chosen as it is within one-days drive to major locations for customers and allows for TAPA A certification, as well as easy access to major highways and three airports.

DB Schenker will be creating 100+ new jobs to support this facility.

São Paulo, Brazil

Brazil’s newest contract logistics facilities has opened and is located in Embu das Artes, the metropolitan region of São Paulo. This facility has a strategic location, with easy access to the port of Santos, airports and main highways of the country.

The 54,000 square feet is split between warehouse and offices, and the facility enables the storage and handling of chemicals, flammable, refrigerated and controlled products. To ensure the smooth running of this new location, DB Schenker has increased its team by 35 warehouse associates.

Roberto Moreno, CEO of DB Schenker Brazil, commented, “The Brazilian contract logistics market has a high degree of maturity, and for us at DB Schenker it was fundamental to have this product on board in Brazil. Providing storage services, with its own structure, completes a very important and vital link of the logistics chain.”

Madrid, Spain

DB Schenker has opened its largest logistics center in Spain, Madrid on a 65,000 square feet plot. It is home to the domestic and international land transport and project operations, as well as the capital’s air and ocean freight. This new facility represents an investment of 22 million euros, which reflects the company’s strong commitment to continued growth in Spain.

DB Schenker currently has almost 1,000 employees in Spain who are divided among 71 branches, 29 of which are DB Schenker’s own offices, making it one of the country’s biggest transportation companies. This new terminal employs more than 150 professionals. The new terminal has been built based on highly sustainable energy-saving parameters.

The size of Madrid’s new logistics center, located in the Vicálvaro district, is equivalent to that of eight football fields. Two warehouses and an office building are distributed across the space.

Graz, Austria

The new DB Schenker logistics center in Graz Austria, has been opened after less than a year of construction. With the new terminal, DB Schenker is doubling its area and creating capacity for 250 jobs. In total, 25 million euros were invested in the center, which was built according to the latest standards.

In addition to state-of-the-art IT solutions and current security standards, the main focus for the integrated logistics service provider is environmental protection. The entire logistics center is illuminated with daylight-dependent LED lamps. In addition, around 86,000 square feet are temperature controlled between 15 and 25 degrees. This optimally ensures the trouble-free storage of temperature-sensitive items, such as pharmaceutical products.

The new location has a total area of 753,000 square feet is the most modern freight transport center south of the Alps. The direct connections to the rail network via the Intermodal Terminal South as well as the A2 and A9 motorways make the logistics center a convenient location, which can also offer its customers a block train shuttle to the port of Koper in the Adriatic.

Contract logistics means more than just storage to DB Schenker. Contract logistics means understanding and designing processes. We’re not satisfied until we find a solution that adds value and gives our customers a competitive edge.

To increase the level of service we offer our customers, we are continually working on new facilities to add to our existing network of over 85 million square feet of warehouse space across 750 locations in over 50 countries.
