Expanding Our Global Contract Logistics Footprint

September 21, 2017

DB Schenker opens new Contract Logistics facilities
in Malaysia, New Zealand, China & Guatemala

DB Schenker is your international partner for complex logistics solutions along your entire supply chain and for defined areas of your logistics – from the supplier to delivery to the customer, from reverse logistics to aftermarket support.

Contract logistics means more than just storage to us. Contract logistics means understanding and designing processes. Our service is not optimal until we find a solution that contributes to added value and gives our customer a competitive edge.

To add greater service to our customers, we have new facilities around the world joining our existing 500 locations in over 100 countries and 40 million square feet of warehouse space:

Johor, Malaysia

DB Schenker in Malaysia is planning its fifth facility named Johor Logistics Centre (JLC7) in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Southern Johor. This facility will provide warehousing, distribution and value-added services. Construction commenced in Q2 2017 and completion is expected in Q2 2018.

The state-of-the art logistics center will feature a built-up space of 224,000 square feet and a total storage capacity of 27,000 pallet positions, plus a 9,500 square feet office space. This facility will provide temperature-controlled and ambient areas to suit the requirements of different customers.

Today, DB Schenker in Malaysia offers integrated solutions in Supply Chain Management, operating 25 warehouses in Peninsular Malaysia with footprint of more than 2.4mil square feet in 16 strategic locations.

DB Schenker New Zealand is opening its new contract logistics facility in Auckland, where the business provides a range of warehousing and distribution services, to a diverse group of customers across healthcare, consumer retail, electronics, and industrial market sectors. The facility’s inauguration was officiated by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Bill English who honored DB Schenker by cutting the ribbon.

This new DB Schenker facility of 75,300 square feet will have the ability to hold up to 10,000 pallets.  Its proximity to Auckland Airport, Wiri’s Inland container port, main arterial roads, and Schenker’s Freight Forwarding division, makes it an optimal location for goods flowing in and out of the facility.

Shenyang, China

The multi-user facility in the Chinese city of Shenyang is one of DB Schenker’s largest ongoing new construction projects. Following completion and commencement of operations in the first section of the Shenyang Logistics Center (SLC) at the end of 2016, the second section is now ready for operations.

This new section comprises 248,000 square feet, which means that the logistics space, which originally encompassed 204,000 square feet, has now more than doubled in size. As the northern Chinese city of Shenyang is renowned as an automotive hotspot, the facility primarily served companies in the car manufacturing sector when it was first completed. Now, however, it is open to customers from all vertical markets and industries.

Guatemala City, Guatemala

Reliable temperature control: pharmaceutical goods need to be stored as well as transported under precisely defined conditions, very often at temperatures ranging between two and eight or between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius

DB Schenker is expanding its footprint across the Americas region with a new location in Guatemala specializing in temperature-controlled airfreight. This is the second office for the logistics service provider in the Central American country, and it is based at the International Airport of the capital Guatemala City. The focus of the team of logistics experts will be on international shipments for companies operating in the pharmaceutical industry and the perishable goods sector, both of which play a crucial role in Guatemala’s economy.
